Inquisitor or elementalist for Volatile Dead

So i really want to make a Volatile Dead build! Atm i will go self cast but probably later transition in poets pen but i hear some people say elementalist and some say inquisitor, all i can tell is elementalist goes pen and inquisitor goes crit, what are peoples opinions?
