Caustic Arrow cause Ailment?

Im trying to make an aliment based build at the moment. Just wondering if caustic arrow causes an ailment so I can get the ailment damage bonus. Thanks. Ive tried to do research but nowhere gave me a clear answer.

No, it does not. Caustic Arrow does chaos dmg over time, it will benefit from DOT nodes and increases. There are a ton of caustic arrow builds out there I suggest you follow if you haven't learned the game mechanics yet and are struggling to figure out how to increase your damage. Damage over time builds also do not benefit from weapon damage, meaning your bow's dmg is meaningless. Ailments refer to elements like ignite, chill, freeze and shock. Can always just look these things up on the wiki, first line of the ailment page gives you your answer. You can also look up individual skills to see how the mechanics work or like I said, just follow a guide until you're comfortable with the mechanics.

ok this clears some things up. I was really confused by the caustic and poison relationship. But its kind of equivalent to physical damage and bleed. The more choas damage you have to more poison damage the target will take?
