The big problem that is obvious in the trailer footage is that it seems to last for a certain number of projectiles and then vanish. Will likely still be a skill you use for single target, but you're going to have to re-cast it constantly.

That's what Arcanist brand is for. Though frankly I've never really had much of a problem with damage.
I've been tinkering with a faster leveling setup because of how meh Poisonous concoction starts feeling and because of the fact that respeccing is a lot cheaper and more accessible than it used to be. I'm also not really a fan of grabbing life the first couple acts and would rather front-load damage and speed.

Is anyone interested? It uses some 'ok' tech but has higher socket pressure that will slow some people down if not used to it. It gets frenzy charges and a bunch of recovery the moment you can take blood rage in act 2 with no downside.

It's functionally lost only about 10-15% at the EARLY game damage rather than the 20+% it looks like, (as long as you have flask charges. They moved the damage of the skill into being more reliable on flasks having charges when thrown and having them rolled.

Old number 30 to 44, 3%
New number 22 to 33, 4%
A large life flask has 360 life.
This number is 3.6 life higher at base level 1, without a rolled flask. If you're blessed with a 40% increased life recovered you've got 5 life as base added damage at level 1. On the high end the new damage formula gets way closer to no equivalent change when pumping extra levels in, etc.

Example Divine life flask is 2400 life base.
x1.65 for a t1 lowest range roll, and 20% quality (can go up to 28!) your life flask will heal you for 4,752 life.
1% of 4752 is 47.5, we now have 16% instead of 11%. That 5% base means we get 47.5 x 5 base added, or 237. On the top end that's a less than 5% damage loss.

Of note, if you have a 28% qual perfectly rolled 70% inc. amount recovered flask there's literally ZERO change btw. 1073 damage on top end.

No, I could probably go for that though. Atm I stick with poisonous concoction but choose different/better points early. I want as little having to use life flasks as possible so I get lgoh nodes and take the 50 life recovered per second mastery. This completely negates blood rage, giving us frenzy charges at 16-18. I then prioritize the aura wheel next and take the damage wheel while rocking level 1 precision, vitality, skitterbots, HoAg, and a slowly leveled clarity (makes shield charge more forgiving w/ frostblink tech). You have enough mana to equip all but may need to turn off a lesser aura if you don't have a source of + mana and a lapis amulet. We pick up the mana nodes early instead of life for the 20 str and int and mana flask node. Because we throw 5 flasks, assuming even 2 of them hit a target we literally cant have mana issues. We go past the mana node at ranger start to pick up 12% movement speed. Then go up for damage before taking herbalism.

By act 3 start skitterbots gets replaced by Haste, and you'll have 19% inc movement speed and 16% attack speed on top of it. You will be a zoomie flying ninja warrior, labyrinth makes you even faster.

I could have gone south for the accuracy and onslaught stuffs, but honestly this felt amazing and really dense.

is this when you get mid budget gear or high budget gear?
