I want to start streaming PoE. Any advice?

Take speech classes. Learning how to talk so that other people can actually enjoy listening to you is something too many streamers skip.

(3) either play leagues, or be a toxic joke mirror service in standard like demi

Is it really neccessary to be that good at the game in order to stream?

This is a good point but can you elaborate? What does Ziz have that makes him different? What about CuteDog or Mathil?

Good one. Luckily, in general, my expectations in life are quite low. With high expectations you only can fall.

i'd say if you play poe for 6+ hours a day anyway, you might as well stream it and see if you can get any traction. if you want to try to do it for a job, then stream a different game.

Why would you say PoE isn't good if I want to "do it a job"? You could say I should stream Fortnite or Apex, but there are hundreds of Apex/Fortnite streamers already so the competition is ver high.

3 Always be presentable, I don't mind watching someone in their bedroom, but a made bed and a shower IS A MUST!
3 You better be social, dead air is a killer, TALK, a lot, having a point really helps. Start talking to yourself now, and make it meaningful, and listen for when you are silent, fill those gaps. discuss your build with yourself, let your inner voice be heard.
4 Beauty sells, male or female, or other.
5 Work third shift, sleep 4 hours, stream 6-8, sleep 2-4 more more hours, repeat. Stream 10-12 on the weekends until you get a following.
6 Practice/experiment OFF Stream, unless asked to do something particular by the MAJORITY of your watchers.
7 What's in the camera? People like to watch WINNERS, make the stuff behind you appealing. Quin gets this.

Good luck! It's 1 in 10,000 just to possibly be able to quit your job, and there are people willing to work harder than you, YOU HAVE TO PROVE THEM WRONG!

Great advices! Thank you. Can you elaborate on 7.? I don't think people consider Quien a "winner". Even more, I think most people think he is "bad" at PoE, but I can be wrong.

Good point but I have no idea how or where I can take that kind of classes. I'll take a look on Youtube about it.

its the type of game that is most important when thinking about audience retention.

path of exile is a crazy grinding game. lots of down time, and even its action is pretty boring to watch. this is why path of exile doesn't have a large audience for streamers, and without a consistent size audience/sub count you won't get twitch partnered etc.

the reason why fortnite or apex have such huge twitch audiences is because they are quick action games. its always packed so you always have something to see.

personally i don't watch twitch, i think its a total waste of time. why would i watch someone play a game when i could just play it myself. this is multiplied so many times for path of exile because chain running maps day in and day out gets repetitive and boring enough as it is (i still do it, and i enjoy it because it pushes me to an end goal) but to watch someone else do it is not captivating.

this is why majority of these comments tell you to either have a great body to look at (mathil/twitch thot) or be so interesting yourself...because the game is not interesting to watch.
As with anything in life, just go do it already. And don’t waste your time asking the opinion of random internet dudes who have no idea how you can succeed nor are invested in seeing you do so.
It will convert your forum titles into decorative square badges that use the space next to your forum posts more economically so that you can show off an unlimited number of them at any one time. - GGG, 2018 (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3573673)
Quin sells SUCCESS! He can be failing and STILL get views, Quin is entertaining, takes his JOB seriously, and sells winning, whether or not he sucks is irrelevant.
Look, people don't want to watch some guy in his Mom's basement. Most people are stuck in that position themselves, or a little above it.
They want to watch someone and say "Damn, I wish I could roll like that".
It doesn't matter what other people (that aren't watching you) think of you, your view numbers is all that matter. Getting to the top with some dignity left should be important as well.

You are selling yourself, you must offer the world the best you that you possibly can. Selling the game helps, and looking like you are having fun doing it matters as well. Put yourself in a beautiful environment, BE POSITIVE, and SELL that you are WORTH someones time to watch!

This is all just the minimum, you could do all this and get lol's in your feeds, and zero views. But this is the basic list I would start with.

I will wear your ghost and you will die twice, against me and for me.
That is some cold blooded shit to say...
If you're looking to make money streaming I wouldn't bother. Too many stars need to align to get a sustainable following. Basically, don't quit your day job.

Play the game and enjoy it. Be able to speak while playing even in intense moments. Make sure you have a decent mic so chat can hear you. A camera helps if you're the emotive type. Have some way to read chat while playing.

Have a consistent schedule and stick to it.

That's kind of the basic "every streamer should know this" kind of thing. Once you get that far if you're looking to get more people tuning in you'll need to promote yourself. Do some cool stuff in game (build guide, boss guides, crazy moments where you triumphed, MTX showcasing, etc), take the VOD and put it on YouTube and promote your channel there.

Learn how to use XSplit/OBS. Plenty of info on the net to learn from there.

Finally, do a ton of test runs making sure all your equipment is working. I hate tuning into the start of a stream full of technical problems. It sucks for the streamer but the audience is there to be entertained.

Good luck!
Having a delightful accent helps
I dont see any any key!

1 and 2 are right but 3? i mean sure he has more than 0 viewers but i wouldn't strive to be on the same level as scamazDemi unless you want to be hated by 98% of the PoE community Kappa

I mean, "play leagues" is pretty easy to do. I had to say it explicitly because OP apparently didn't play Betrayal at all, so either they play standard or they took some time off from the game.

There's no way you can attract a new audience while playing standard unless you fill some very particular niche. "be like demi" was only half-joking because he empirically has an audience for his dumb bullshit. And even he hit 36 challenges this league lol.

It really depends on your goal. If your goal is to attract a reliable audience, then yes, you have to be good. If you're not good, people will get bored of you because they can get a better experience of the game by just playing it themselves.

Even quin, who's a complete imbecile ("or at least plays one on stream"), has actual gameplay skill. Sometimes he fucks up because he's still not used to insta-gib mechanics (and how to watch out for them), but most people who play the game can't even imagine tolerating HCSSF, whereas he's good enough at knowing when and where to click to be able to get through it to at least shaper (I don't think he's done uber elder yet but I could be wrong).

The only exception to the "be good" rule of streaming is variety streamers. They can attract a pretty reasonable audience by "just" being [very] entertaining even if they suck at everything besides entertainment, because at least people get to experience a wide variety of games through watching them, games that they might otherwise never think to play or experience otherwise.

Be yourself! This is the main rule that a lot of streamers ignore.

And for the love of all that is holy, DO NOT fall into the same trap that a lot of other streamers fall into, and that is to scream when something bad happens and overreact when something good happens.

The moment I hear a streamer scream, I'm out. And that is the reason I refuse to watch Quin to name one.

So use a melee build then~ ;p

But yeah as others have said, be presentable, speak clearly, be yourself and most importantly HAVE FUN.
