Client download is incredibly slow.
Hi,
I'm currently installing PoE on a clean OS install and the client download is atrociously slow. It's a 50 MB/s connection, and I'm downloading with an average of maybe 200 kB/s. Sure, I won't hit the possible maximum, but at this rate I'm looking at a download time of 6-7 hours instead of 10-15 minutes. Other downloads, other games, updates etc. work perfectly fine. Is there anything I can do to speed this up, forwards ports, tweak some settings? Thanks. |

It's just like standard website downloads. The problem most people report is that it's maxing out their throughput because there's no traffic limiter.
Can you download anything faster than that? Perhaps there's a limit from your PC to the router. Is it wifi? |

Alright, so I've managed to "spread" the download over the entire week; I didn't have much time to play anyway due to work and only had the PC running 30-60 minutes each day.
Funnily enough, for the last ~300 MB or so, the downloader has now decided to slow down - to a whopping 20-50 kB/s. That's a decrease of up to 90% from the already abysmal initial rate. And this is independent of download time (and potential load on the servers) - regardless of whether I'm dl'ing at 6 AM, 5 PM, 11 PM, it's all the same. This is ridiculous. " As said in the initial post, other downloads, games and updates for other software work perfectly fine. Zuletzt bearbeitet von Shockk#7157 um 17.01.2014, 17:24:20

Which download link are you using?
Does this one work any faster? Or is the problem with Patching after install? The PathOfExileInstaller.msi shouldn't be slow. So my guess is that it is the patching server you're hitting that is causing slowness. Sometimes using a VPN can help speed some of that up as well. Instructions for setting up and using a free VPN can be found linked in the Consolidated Technical sticky post. |

" Hey there and thanks for your reply. I was using the .msi, and the issue was with the initial download, not any patching afterwards. I have since finished the download by simply letting it run while I was afk, but that's not exactly a practical solution :/. |
