[Solved] CTD launching with Dx11, can't revert to Dx9

Hi,

Yesterday night I changed my POE directx from 9 to 11, and since then I can't launch the game, it does a CTD on launch.

I tried the following, none of these worked:
-deleting the production_config file
-repairing the game
-uninstalling the game, deleting all folder named path of exile I could find with windows search, then reinstalling.
-Also tried both the steam and non-steam clients.
-For the steam version, tried using both executables in the game folder.

Here are my specs (it should handle dx11 PRETTY well):
CPU: Intel Core i7 7700k.
Mobo: Asus prime Z270-P.
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080Ti FE (with EVGA AIO cooler kit, overheating is not
a problem) with up to date driver.
Ram: 16 gb DDR4 3000 mhz.
OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit.

So is there any way to fix this? Either by reverting back to Dx9 or making Dx11 version work?

Hello,

For the crash it would help a lot to have more information. If there's an error message then what it says would be a good start. A DxDiag (see my signature) could also help.

To get the game to use DirectX 9, you should be able to edit the production_Config.ini file and change directx_version=11 to directx_version=9 in the [DISPLAY] section. The client generates one on start-up, so hopefully there's a new one - if not, you should be able to retrieve the previous one from the Recycle Bin.

It worked!

Somehow I never thought of recovering it from the recycle bin, now I feel silly...

Thank you very much!
