Elemetnal Resistance Limitations

So can I ask for someone to ask GGG to take a look at the Doryani's Prototype Chestpiece? Or at least confirm that it doesn't do what it claims it does.

What Doryani's Prototype is supposed to do is give your Lightning Resistance to enemies in your presence. And Armour takes the place of your Lightning Resistance defensively. Now I am 100% certain that all monsters are locked into having an absolute minimum of 0 Resistances. The only exception is if you are using the Leopolds Applause gloves.

Now a bit of context on what I am doing and why I think Doryani's needs to be looked at. I have designed a Lightning Thorns build using Doryani's Prototype and a crafted pair of gloves that give me the 100% increased effect of socketed items. So these gloves alone give me 4-400 Lightning Thorns Damage. With two Ventors and an ingenuity belt I was easily able to get to over -200% lightning Resistance. Now that Lightning Resistance SHOULD be given to all enemies in my presence and since I am a Lightning Thorns build, the presence area isn't an issue. HOWEVER, I am 100% certain that the armour defensive aspect of Doryani's Prototype isn't properly defending against Lightning damage. I have tried with and without the ventors rings and Lightning Damage still basically one shots me even with over 75% armour. Also with this particular buld of mine I have 75% Block Chance as well. If I swap to Svaalin I have 90% Block Chance. Neither option mattered if anyone was asking. Lightning still one shots.

Defenses aside, and moving on to damage. GGG has clearly locked monster resistance to an absolute minimum of 0 UNLESS you equip the Leopolds Applause gloves. Which DOES work with this build. Since I am locking 0 lightning resistance on mobs with Doryani's. Leopolds comes with 10% elemental resistance penetration and I happen to roll another 11% lightning penetration as a corruption. So this brings mobs to a negative 21% lightning resistance and it CLEARLY shows. Ran a few maps with Leopolds on instead of my crafted gloves with the additional 400 Lightning Thorns damage and the damage difference was clear as day.

Leopolds was hands down the best option. So this right here flat out proved that Doryani's Prototype chestpiece does NOT give your Lightning Resistance to enemies in your presence beyond a flat 0. Making the whole premise of this chestpiece worthless.


So my key points that I took away from this build.


Doryani's Prototype is locked to 0% Lightning Resistance to enemies.

Leopolds is required to go into the negatives.

And the Armour defensive value either has to match the negative Lightning Resistance value to do anything at all OR Armour just doesn't work properly. This would confirm what a LOT of people have been saying about armour already.

Finally I am not entirely certain that Lightning Thorns damage is being affected by any damage modifiers.


Ergo, I'd love to have someone check on Doryani's Prototype and ACTUALLY have it match our Lightning Resistance to enemies in our presence. Because we are already forced into using an inferior defensive option with armour with this chestpiece so the least that could be done is to offset the lack of defense with the amazing damage that it SHOULD give.

When i got it Leopold gloves i tested with -50 elemental defences and didn't see any difference about monster deaths.

Its clearly bugged. But with no training doomy you can't check any skill if works correctly and is absolutely Devs fault and intiference.
Ive played a melee doryani prototype character for 0.2 and 0.3.

Im fairly certain it works and that the negative cap for monsters is same as players (-200%). I can even see the 'weak to lightning' symbol pop up under boss bars when I get close.

Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to kill t4 xesht with 1 flicker strike. My sheet dps is only 20-30k (not including temp buffs)

As for the armour part, I'm only running 20% phys reduction + 20% dmg conversion from infernalist. Different lightning abilities hit for vastly different amounts. Eg, I can stand in Xeshts lightning ground affect just fine, but the lightning bolts that appear with it 1 shot me. And lightning inherently has wider dmg spread than other elements, so a crit can tickle or 1 shot players.

30k DPS? Oh bro sometimes i wonder what I'm doing wrong or is the f... Crossbow skills that hit like a chicken.
