Finally found the Stone Citadel, except the fight bugged.

Once the phase started I saw the NPC did not enter the arena, so I put a portal down thinking I would just leave the zone if she didn't reset back into the fight. When the phase started I was as close to her as possible then tried charging to my TP. Obviously I didn't make it:

I've never felt so frustrated playing this game. It took me 6 days of /played and 92 levels of traveling all over the map to get my first citadel. To be robbed of it leaves me absolutely furious. Furthermore knowing some players will get lucky and find them right away.

Build:
It is possible my build had something to do with it, I may have stunned him close to the phase, you can find the build I use here:
Totembringer: Campaign to endgame - Huge AOE & 430K+ Boss DPS - (2H + Shield | 2H + 2h)

Suggestions:
  • 1) Portal per map has got to go. The XP penalty is a massive enough downside to dying, we shouldn't lose all our progression too.
  • 2a) Remove RNG from the first 3 citadels. The first citadels and tower should be available near the atlas start point. They should be clustered together, but locked until players reach whatever level you start allowing the citadels to actually spawn at, feels like level 90.
  • 2b) At least have an arrow pointing to next citadel. It feels utterly terrible to spend your entire Satuday / Sunday, day and night playing to not find a single citadel. I have no idea how it works, if it already spawned in another direction but a software bug has it just barely covered by fog of war but the game considers them spawned. Countless edge cases. Give us a quest marker dude, it's just miserable. Not hard. Not exciting to find. It's miserable, through and through. Point an arrow to where I need to go for each citadel.

bumping this as I find it so discouraging I’m not playing my main at the moment. I hope the next patch changes some of the pain points here. The easiest one would be to remove the portal / area death limit. It affects too many areas of gameplay.

Playing with my girlfriend sucks because if one of us die we end up being stuck playing solo with the massive hp increases, and the other has to sit in town and watch. Don’t die? Yea, easier said than done in a bug riddled EA release. Adding portal limits to a polished full release is one thing, adding it to EA just doesn’t make sense. It’s not fun, end game and group play isn’t fun. Maybe in a full five stack carefully composed together farming 24/7 it’s great, but not for most people.

Special areas like this that take days or weeks to hunt down and are bug riddled suck so badly. Most frustrated I’ve ever been. Was so excited to finally find a citadel after seeing it on my quest marker for weeks, only to lose all that progress on a single death that wasn’t my fault.

Bad design. Bad foresight. You won’t fix every single bug, not ever. Don’t punish players for your mistakes. Walk this change back, learn from Poe1. You solve dozens of problems and improve the enjoyment of the game by undoing one bad philosophical change. Pls ggg.

P.s. still pissed off you turned my name into an Xbox tag without giving me an OG digit like 0000. Angry about this, even if irrationally.
